ImageWhew!  Is it summer yet?  You’ll be ready for a vacation after getting through our busy April/May social calendar.  There should be something for everyone!  We already had a very successful Easter Egg Hunt, as well as a great Wine Tasting Event in April.
  • Say “goodbye” to your clutter (oops, we mean treasures) at the neighborhood Garage Sale scheduled for April 28th.
  • In May, get ready for our rockin’ Summer Kick-Off Party on Monday, May 28th.  Watch our resident Master Grillers Nickelatti, Kronenberger and Yeo prepare their special burgers, brats and dogs while you enjoy a delicious selection of salads, sides and desserts from our festive buffet.  **NEW** Love Machine will be providing live music for the event!

Details for these events are included in the Events Calendar on this website and will be distributed on flyers placed in each resident’s mailbox.  Street signs will also be placed at each entrance to remind you of the upcoming event.

If you want additional socializing opportunities or just an excuse to get out of the house, we’d also love to see you at the monthly HOA Board Meeting, Book Club, Bunco, Texas Hold’em Poker and Coffee Clutch.

President's Letter - April 2007 Print
Written by Richard Pankhurst
Saturday, 21 April 2007

I hope you all had a wonderful spring break!   My name is Richard Pankhurst and I live at 10519 Indigo Broom Loop with my wife, Cathy and our two children.  I am the 2007 HOA President.  We love Senna Hills and Austin, having relocated here more than 6 years ago from colder climates.  We feel fortunate to be part of a growing community with great neighbors.  In this letter I wanted to cover two topics: to thank the outgoing Board Members and President and to introduce the 2007 Senna Hills HOA Board and quickly review the role of the Board.

Thanks!

The 2006 Board and the Committee members did a phenomenal job.  At the Annual Board Meeting, Gregg Kronenberger, the outgoing President thanked all those Board members, committee members and volunteers.  In addition to echoing his comments at the Annual meeting, I wanted to thank Gregg.  Gregg worked hard for the community last year, leading the Board in tackling several issues including a pool resurfacing, complex sprinkler refurbishment and the website launch.  In addition, under Gregg’s leadership the Board was able to work together as a team to improve the neighborhood social schedule by empowering our social committee to run a full social calendar.  Gregg will continue to serve as a Board Member for 2007.

Directory Print

It’s been four years since our last directory was produced, and with so many new families moving in, it’s time to produce a new one.  The idea is to have a directory that will be a prototype that can be updated annually.  With approximately 200 homes being built in the next 2 to 3 years, this directory will allow us to keep in touch with everyone and bring our neighborhood closer together. The directory will be produced as a hard copy, one for each household.  The Directory is strictly for Senna Hills residents and will not be distributed in any form to surrounding businesses.  It will be important that Senna Hills residents not share this directory with others. A few new sections are being added to the directory:  baby sitting, lawn mowing, pet sitting and house sitting.  Moving into a new neighborhood may sometimes be difficult if any of the above are needed.  The directory is intended to provide a ready list of services for our residents.  If you have children, interested in any of the sections please include their name and year born.   Our goal is to have a Senna Hills directory that connects every resident to another. For those families not interested in being part of the directory, they can choose not to provide information.  All we ask is to turn in the form stating a desire not to be listed.
Forms have been place in every mailbox, so if you have not returned your information, please do so.  If you have misplaced your form please note one has been included in this newsletter and there is one one the documents section of the website.

Thanks for your support and help in making Senna Hills a fun, friendly place to live.

Gregg's Letter January/February Print

Another year has come and gone, and it’s been an eventful one. In 2006, we made several improvements to the neighborhood.

Parts of the sprinkler system were over ten years old in 2006. As a result, the system suffered from worn out and broken parts and leaks that wasted water. We repaired the system, put in new controllers, and it is now working well.

With the help of Taylor Woodrow, we updated the landscaping at the entrances. Taylor Woodrow has also agreed to change the flowers at the entrances on a regular basis to keep the colors fresh.

The swimming pool needed resurfacing, and in 2006 we completed that project as well. That was a big project and took a bite out of our savings, but the pool was ready for our great Memorial Day party!

We lost much of our entrance lighting from a lightning strike in the late summer of 2006. The lights have been replaced, and the entrances look great.

The website, www.sennahills.com, has a new look. It is up and running and has the capability to provide current information to the neighborhood quickly. The calendar feature of the website has been down but was recently fixed. We are looking forward to posting the schedule of board meetings and social/neighborhood events, pool schedule, regular trash collection days and a whole range of neighborhood information on the calendar by the middle of February. The calendar can be accessed by clicking on the calendar link on the site. If you have any suggestions for information and events that you would like to see posted on the calendar or the website please email Richard Pankhurst at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it .

The neighborhood Yahoo! group membership is still climbing. The group has 85 members, meaning that almost half the households in the neighborhood get email from the group. The purpose of the group is to promote open discussion and networking among neighbors. To subscribe email This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it and please include your name and address, as the group is open to residents only.

As usual, there is always more to be done, but we’ve accomplished much this year. I want to thank all the Board members for their dedication, and especially thank the committee chairpersons and other neighbors who have given of their time and talents to make our neighborhood a better place.

For the future, we expect the HOA to concentrate on polishing up the website and improving our communication by updating our mailing list and a publishing a new directory. Please check inside for more details on these projects and be sure and provide your information when it is requested. Some other issues that the HOA may be investigating in 2007 include gating the community and building a clubhouse at the amenities center.

If these or any other issues interest you, I urge you to get involved! We also need volunteers to help on committees, including Landscape, Social, and Communications. There may be other opportunities, and if you want to know more, please call on any Board member or committee chair. Their contact information is inside.

Our annual HOA meeting will be February 22, 2007 at the assembly hall/cafeteria at Barton Creek Elementary. As with all meetings, all residents are invited to attend.

And as always, if you have any questions, please give me a call or stop by.

Getting to know the sheriff again! Print

Wednesday, 23 August 2006

As mentioned in previous newsletters, the Travis County Sheriff has stepped up patrols in our neighborhood. Many of you have expressed concerns about the 4-way stop signs at Indigo Broom and Senna Hills Blvd. Residents who live near these areas can attest to the number of "slow and go's" occurring at these locations. Why is this important? Many of our children routinely cross this street to visit the park, pool, or other friends. We have a multitude of walkers, joggers, strollers, and bikers leveraging the wide streets of our beautiful neighborhood. The summertime is especially busy with kids running to the pool. And fall generates more activity with the cooler weather. Many Senna Hills residents asked me to help with this problem. The Travis County Sheriff was contacted to request increased patrols at the 4-way stop sign. While many of you (including my wife) experienced speeding tickets on Senna Hills Blvd., I have reminded the Sheriff that our problem is not speeding toward Bee Caves Road but with running the stop sign. In early August, the Sheriff reports that 15-20 tickets were issued. If you are interested, ask my wife what she thinks of her online defensive driving class!! No one likes being stopped by the police for a traffic violation. We are all in a hurry these days. Let's take a few seconds for the safety of all of our residences as well as insurance rates! I timed myself the other day and it took 4 seconds to come to a complete stop. Make sure you feel your car go slightly backwards to ensure a complete stop. Expect to see continued patrols in the future as we continue to ensure a safe neighborhood for our residences. Feel free to contact me if you have issues or concerns. Below are the statistics provided by the Sheriff s office on the citations and warnings issued.

8/1/06- from 9:00-10:00 a.m. 8 citations issued/4 warnings

8/2/06- from 9:45-10:30 a.m. 6 citations issued/3 warnings

8/9/06- from 8:30-9:30 a.m. 6 citations issued/2 warnings
